What causes edge breakage
Doctor blade damages cause by inconsistent cylinder edges. While soft wear patterns are normal, edge breakage is describing severe damages as seen in the picture. These damages lead to problems like ink splashing. The cause are almost always by bad cylinder edges.
Solution
Solutions for edge breakage
1. Check cylinder for rough cylinder edges. If damages are found, re-chrome cylinder.
2. Check for correct transport, storage and installation into the printing machine.
3. During prepress preparation, check copper plating for smooth edges.
